Rotary golf tourney winners

SANJOK Moktan carded a 73 to emerge as the overall gross winner in the 9″ Rotary Golf Tournament at the Pantai Mentiri Golf Club yesterday participated by more than 100 golfers.
The tournament has been the Rotary Club of Bandar Seri Begawan’s annual event since 2000 held for all friends and supporters of Rotary.
This year the tournament created history when the hole-in-one prize was won by Francis Chan Kai Fai at Hole No 16. He won himself cash prize of $10,000 sponsored by Paint Man and one unit of 52″. Plasma TV, sponsored by Panacom Sdn Bhd.
The tournament was divided into Division A, B and C. Hing Swee Foh scored a 69 to win the Division A category, followed by Lim Chee Seng (71) and Seruji Hj Setia (74).
Philip Shim with a score of 72 won the Division B category, followed by Haji Md. Yussof Hj Abd. Latip (73) and Matthew Wong (73).
The Division C category was won by Han KK with a score of 64, followed by Bernard Tan (65) and Tony Tan (66).
Nearest to pin for Hole No 7,9,13 and 16 winners were Dato Malai Ali, Criss Chee, Kang Ho Kiong and Sanjok Moktan respectively.
Prizes were presented by the club’s president Pek Hai Hin, organising committee chairman Tiong Kee Huat and president-elect Ricky Ng and Jeff Yong.
“This yearly tournament is one of several our club initiated to raise not only awareness but also to support our efforts to seek financial contribution to fund our education assistance programme that benefits the less financial able students within our community,” the president
said.
“This year, the club continues to emphasise on literacy, health, hunger and clean water projects in line with the focus of Rotary International. In its focus on literacy, the club is committed to continuously support many students in its yearly bursary awards, back to school projects as well as supporting several schools in their computing and library requirements.”
