Rosanan and Liew ... heading to Sao Paulo, Brazil to attend the course for professional coaches

Bandar Seri Begawan - It's the dream of every footballer to be able to visit Brazil, the country where many football legends were born and the next host of the FIFA World Cup.

Former national striker Hj Mohd Rosanan Abdullah Samak and former national team captain Liew Chuan Fue will be living the dream of many footballers in the country when they travel to Brazil to attend a Course for Professional Coaches from May 23-29.

The course which is sponsored by the Government of Brazil, is one of the programmes under FEALAC (Forum for East Asia-Latin America Cooperation) whereby Brunei and Brazil are members.

During the course, Rosanan and Liew will also meet and receive coaching tips from Luis Felipe Scolari and Bebeto, both are winners of the 1994 World Cup held in the United States. In an interview, Rosanan and Liew said: "It's every footballer dream to be able to visit Brazil and also to meet with two legends of Brazilian football. We are very excited and we want to learn and experience the modern football from both World Cup winners."

They further added: "After we absorb the new knowledge from the course, we can also transfer the knowledge to the young footballers in Brunei as well as coaches in various football teams"

The course is made possible through the collaboration of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Trade of Brunei Darussalam with Ministry of Culture, Youth and Sports, Ministry of Education, Ministry of Development and FFBD.

Both Rosanan and Liew were nominated by Ministry of Culture, Youth and Sports as well as the Ministry of Education respectively due to their vast experience and contribution to the country as football player as well as coach.

Both men were part of the Brunei national football team that made history in 1999 when Liew was the captain and Rosanan the striker in the campaign that successfully lifted the Malaysia Cup for the first time.

Currently, Liew is working as a physical education officer in the curriculum unit of Ministry of Education. He is also actively involved in the local football scene especially in the Asean inter-school football tournament, coaching the young footballers.

Meanwhile, Rosanan is a land development supervisor at Survey Department, Ministry of Development. He holds a 'B' licence coaching certificate from AFC and has been responsible in coaching football clubs AH United and Dragonfly FC between 2005-2007.

Recently, he is sharing his experience coaching the under-18 Brunei Youth.

Both Liew and Rosanan, have been actively involved in the U-18, U-16 and U-14 as well as U-12 young grassroots football projects that have successfully produced remarkable players to lead the country in the future abroad.

The weeklong course is designed for professional football managers and aimed at updating as well as enhancing the coaching skills, encompassing both lectures and whenever possible, practical activities.

Brazilian legends Luis Felipe Scolari and Bebeto are scheduled to be lecturers at the course. -- Courtesy of Borneo Bulletin
