Bullseye: Citis Square crowns National Open dart champs

BANDAR SERI BEGAWAN - ZULKIFLI Hj Matali got to the point as he emerged champion of the singles event of the 1st Citis Square National Open Dart Tournament last sunday after defeating Andy Sham Hj Shamsuddin 3-1 at Citi Square in Berakas.
Suhaimi Hj Rashid and Md Saiful Rizal Ridzwan finished third while Hj Asrin Hj Md Noor, Mohd Hamizan Osman, Md Hairul Azman Hj Bujang and Rossam Draman made it into the top eight in the competition.
The doubles event, meanwhile, was won by the duo of Pg Mohammed Pg Hj Metarsad and Md Hairul Azman Hj Bujang of the Kelab Bawah Tetangga (KBT) Waqi RR team.
They cruised past the partnership of Andy Sham and Jamil Hj Abdullah of the Sekapur Sirih Darters (SSD) 9 team 4-1 to finish on the top of the podium.
Third place went to the MSD 1 and OBP 1 teams while KKBT One Shot, SM Darters, Power Point 2 and KDKK A rounded up the top eight of the tournament.
The KBT Waqi RR team received $700 while SSD 9 won $500 for their triumphs in the Doubles event.
Zulkifli Hj Matali walked away with $500 for winning the Singles.
Andy Sham won $300 and Md Saiful Rizal and Suhaimi Hj Rashid took home $100 each.
Trophies were also awarded to the respective winners.
The six-day tournament was coordinated by Riziq Event Management Service and Brunei Darussalam National Dart Association (BNDA) from Feb 13 to 19.
The doubles was contested from Feb 13 to 14 with the round robin-format and the knockout stage played the day after.
The Singles was played from Feb 16 to 17 and the knockout stage was played last Saturday.
Present at the event to award the winners were Pg Md Salleh Pg Hj Besar and Victor Lai, the directors of Citis Square.
